A lawsuit filed against an Atlanta nightclub this week accuses the club of negligent security that led to a Mother’s Day shooting that left two dead and six injured, while the city of Atlanta pursued an immediate injunction to close the Elleven45 Lounge as a legally recognized public nuisance.

According to the parents of 21-year-old Mariam “Mari” Creighton, who filed the lawsuit following her death, the Elleven45 Lounge in Atlanta’s Buckhead Village District allowed a man to enter the crowded club with a loaded firearm on May 12. The suspect was able to remain on the property and an altercation broke out, resulting in shots being fired.
