On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of longtime Atlanta attorney, Emory University School of Law Associate Dean Emeritus and 1988-89 State Bar President A. James Elliott after his passing January 14.

A Georgia Bar member since 1966, Mr. Elliott also served as president of the State Bar’s Young Lawyers Division in 1976-77. He practiced law with the Atlanta firm of Alston & Bird for 28 years before entering the field of legal academia at Emory Law, his alma mater.
