A DeKalb County, Georgia, jury recently awarded a $140 million verdict in a premises liability case that plaintiff’s attorney, Jeff Shiver of Shiver Hamilton, said should never have gone to trial.
“Knowing the case was virtually indefensible on the facts, Kinsale sent [the defense counsel] out to try and catch a javelin,” Shiver said. Attorney fees accounted for $40 million of the sum.
