CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Dr. David Hall Hammett and other defendants were slapped with a medical malpractice and wrongful death lawsuit on Oct. 6 in South Carolina Circuit Court for Richland County. The lawsuit, brought by the McLeod Law Group on behalf of Kathy Brannon, accuses Dr. Hammett, who was also the husband of the decedent, of unlawfully writing, ordering and dispensing controlled substances, including opioids, in the plaintiff’s name without her knowledge or consent. The suit further contends that the defendant made numerous prescriptions under the plaintiff’s name during the years of 2016-2021 and provided the decedent with said drugs. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2023CP4005322, Kathy Brannon v. David Hall Hammett, defendant, et al.
