Fulton County jurors handed down a $75 million verdict Oct. 21 in a medical-malpractice lawsuit against North Fulton Regional Hospital involving claims that physicians’ negligence led to Georgia man Jonathan Buckelew’s locked-in syndrome.

The award includes $29 million for medical expenses, along with $46 million in noneconomic damages for Buckelew, who was 32 at the time of the incident and was seeking $200 million in damages in the lawsuit.
