Attorneys representing the Ford Motor Co.’s counsel in a product liability case have filed a motion to vacate or reconsider sanctions imposed against them during the first of two trials that resulted in more than $1.7 billion in damages against the automaker.

Patrick O’Connor and Timothy Roberts, partners with Oliver Maner in Savannah, filed the motion Monday in Gwinnett County State Court. It was the third motion filed that day in that court as part of Ford’s appeal strategy, with the second seeking a judgment notwithstanding the verdict and the third seeking a new trial and an alternative motion for remittitur.
