Judges, lawyers and friends are planning to gather on the Marietta Square Thursday evening to honor the retirement of Cobb County Superior Court Judge Robert Flournoy III—plus his 70th birthday and his judicial portrait.

The occasion will mark highlights of Flournoy’s career, with speeches from colleagues and friends. “I wish Judge Flournoy well in his retirement,” Cobb Superior Court Chief Judge Robert Leonard II told the Daily Report Monday. “He was one of the judges that I always looked forward to appearing in front of in private practice. As a colleague, he is the unofficial historian for the bench. I will miss his pragmatic approach to problem solving and his quick wit.”
