Lawyers defending products liability claims can talk about the existence of seatbelts in a vehicle and how they’re designed. They just can’t tell the jury the injured person wasn’t wearing one, the Georgia Supreme Court has ruled in answer to questions from U.S. District Senior Judge Hugh Lawson of the Middle District of Georgia.

Thus Georgia’s “seat belt gag rule” remains in place. But in so ruling, Justice Sarah Warren offered a potential road map for a detour.
