Friday is the last day on the job for the top lawyer at the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia.

Legal Director Sean J. Young is leaving after nine years with the ACLU, where he has led challenges to voting restrictions, abortion bans and free speech limits. Now, at the age of 42, he said he plans to start a new career chapter as a criminal defense attorney. After taking a couple of months off to refresh, he plans to go to work as a federal public defender in the Northern District of Georgia.
