Curiosity is building across state lines as attorneys in Georgia, Alabama, Pennsylvania and New York wait to see just how much litigators representing a Southern coal field will get, now that a federal appellate court has granted attorney fees on an amended $8.3 million breach-of-contract judgment.

What began as a pricing dispute regarding the transfer and storage of coal between plaintiff Southern Coal Corp. and defendant Drummond Coal Sales Inc. seemed to have ended with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia awarding a $6.8 million breach-of-contract judgment in favor of Drummond.
