A South Florida man admitted in federal district court this week to making threats against the defense attorney of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer previously convicted of murdering George Floyd.

William John Hartnett, 42, of Coral Gables, entered a guilty plea on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida to transmitting a threat through interstate communications on April 6. He could face up to five years in prison.
