The Georgia Court of Appeals threw out a jury award of more than $4.7 million to a young man injured while playing “bubble soccer” at his high school soccer team’s year-end party, ruling that the trial judge should have instructed the jury on the assumption of risk before they began deliberations.

The jury’s total verdict was for $5 million, but it apportioned 7% of the liability to plaintiff Salvador Reyes Quezada.
