In what attorneys on both sides of a high court ruling deemed vital guidance in premises liability cases, a divided Georgia Supreme Court upheld lower court rulings allowing a jury to be instructed on landlords’ responsibilities in the case of an apartment complex owner sued after a man was murdered in the parking lot.
The case ended in a defense verdict that was reversed by the Court of Appeals, and Monday’s opinion does not impact that court’s order directing a new trial on two other issues.
