The University of Georgia law school has commissioned an Atlanta lawyer and artist to create a work commemorating the 60th anniversary of the arrival of the first Black students on campus.
On Jan. 9, 1961, Hamilton Holmes and Charlayne Hunter became the first Black students to enroll at the university. They were followed by Mary Frances Early, who entered graduate school that summer.
