Barnes & Thornburg is the latest large firm to respond to the events of 2020 with concrete action. Through a new nonprofit, the Barnes & Thornburg Racial and Social Justice Foundation, the firm’s lawyers and staff are giving $200,000 to nonprofits in four cities where it has offices, including $50,000 to Project Pinnacle in Atlanta.

Project Pinnacle is a pretrial diversion program that offers a second chance to nonviolent offenders under age 25. Chief Judge Asha Jackson of DeKalb County Superior Court, a former Barnes & Thornburg partner, started the mandatory, yearlong program a decade ago.
