Before the pandemic and before widespread protests over the killing of George Floyd, attorneys in both law firms and in-house legal departments did not see much progress in their organizations’ diversity and inclusion efforts, a new survey found.

The 2020 Inclusion Index Survey Report, published by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association and Russell Reynolds Associates, had respondents rate different diversity and inclusion factors on a scale from one to five. Those factors are: working across differences; leveraging different perspectives; workplace respect; voice and influence; employee recruitment, development and retention; accommodating differences; organizational fairness; and leadership commitment.
