Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Harold Melton is set to deliver his first State of the Judiciary speech to the General Assembly at 11 a.m. on Feb. 19 in the House chambers.

The Georgia House of Representatives adopted a resolution Wednesday calling a joint session with the Senate “for the purpose of hearing a message from the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.”
It will be the first State of the Judiciary speech for Chief Justice Harold Melton, who stepped up to lead the high court in September. Melton succeeded his friend and mentor, Chief Justice P. Harris Hines, who was killed in a car accident two months later.
