A federal judge has dismissed a malicious prosecution case against a Cobb County detective accused of lying to a judge to obtain a warrant and indictment against a Chilean man, who was jailed for nearly a month on child molestation and aggravated sodomy charges that were later dismissed.

The plaintiff, Juan Perez, was released from jail on bond but spent several months as a “prisoner” unable to leave the county or support himself until a grand jury dismissed the indictment.
