What drew you to a career in law? I read the book “Barbarians at the Gate” while in undergrad. Most people who read that book make the decision to go into finance … but not me. It made me realize I wanted to be a deal lawyer.
Have you set a specific goal that you want to achieve in the next year? I made the decision to switch course from private practice to in-house earlier this year. I have only been in my new role for a short time, so there is a lot to learn. My goal is to dive in, come up to speed as quickly as I can and be a valuable asset to the company.
What has been your proudest career moment and your biggest hurdle? My proudest moment was also my biggest hurdle—deciding to leave private practice and the world that shaped me as a lawyer over the last decade. I really enjoyed my time in Big Law and am beyond grateful for my wonderful mentors and the fantastic opportunities that it provided me. However, I had been intrigued by the idea of going in-house and couldn’t resist when I learned of the opportunity at GSMA. It’s a great company with a really talented, fun team. It was time to take the plunge!
