Following a two-week trial and more than two days of deliberations, a Douglas County jury cleared a doctor and hospital of negligence in a case accusing them of failing to timely diagnose a woman’s breast cancer.

While the hospital, WellStar Douglas, was not liable for negligence per se, the jury deadlocked on whether it was liable for medical malpractice, setting up a new trial on that issue, according to plaintiffs lawyer Lance Lourie of Watkins, Lourie, Roll & Chance.
