Florida Blue will move its regional office to a more than 81,000-square-foot space in Doral, the largest office relocation lease this year in South Florida, according to Cushman & Wakefield.
Florida Blue, the trade name for health insurer Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Inc., is moving between July and September 2018 to Doral Court at 8600 NW 36th St. The lease term and value were not disclosed.
Cushman & Wakefield managing director Gordon Messinger represented the joint venture of real estate investment adviser DRA Advisors LLC and Banyan Street Capital in the lease negotiations. A company affiliated with Banyan Street Capital, Doral Court Development LLC, owns Doral Court, according to the Miami-Dade County property records.
David Behar of Behar Real Estate Group Inc. represented Florida Blue.
Florida Blue will move from its nearby home at Westside Plaza at 8400 NW 33rd St. in Doral.
About 350 full-time staff members in more than 20 departments will take the top four floors of the eight-story Doral Court and half of its first floor.
Banyan Street Capital and DRA Advisors LLC are upgrading the 145,000-square-foot Doral Court to a Class A office building. The plan includes work on the exterior as well as renovation of the lobbies, corridors and bathrooms.
