White & Case has lured away Schulte Roth & Zabel partner Brian Pfeiffer as part of an expansion of its global financial restructuring and insolvency practice.

Pfeiffer, who joins as a partner at White & Case, will split his time between the firm’s New York and Miami offices. His move follows the June hiring of partners Philip Abelson from Proskauer, and David Turetsky from Skadden, into that practice in New York.

Pfeiffer and White & Case have been involved in some of the same restructuring matters and have some clients in common.

Pfeiffer’s work includes in-court and out-of-court restructurings of financially distressed companies. His experience also includes work for ad hoc groups of bondholders and lenders, official and unofficial creditors, equity committees, and purchasers and sellers of distressed assets and businesses. Pfeiffer has advised on restructurings across a broad range of industries and sectors, including real estate, telecommunications, financial services, energy, technology, automotive and forestry.

“His predominantly creditor-side practice complements what we do in that space and gives us more of the bandwidth we need to keep up with the growth of our business,” said Thomas Lauria, Global Head of White & Case’s financial restructuring and insolvency practice.
