The call comes into the office for a new case and a meeting is set with the potential client. That meeting is the beginning of a relationship with your client(s) that will continue for possibly two years, maybe longer. Entering the home of a mother and father whose son was just murdered or sitting with a sexual assault victim whose life has been completely and utterly shattered is a surreal experience.
The survivors are looking to you, this complete stranger, as the person who is going to take up their fight to seek justice on their behalf. Until the jury knocks on the door with their answer or the case settles, the individuals are counting on you to be the person who is going to hold the people responsible for the loss of their child or ability to feel safe in this world. The moment when the survivors become your client comes with great responsibility.
