Judge Martha WarnerJudge Martha Warner (Melanie Bell)

Almost a year after a Broward circuit judge ordered BB&T to stop trying to get money from a Palm Beach County woman, her bank finally unfroze her account, her attorney said.

A Bank of America account held by Amy Kodsi, a Romanian immigrant living in Boca Raton, was frozen with $720,000 in it in early 2013. The move followed court judgments obtained by creditors against her husband, Joseph Kodsi, totaling more than $4 million, according to court records.

Joseph Kodsi ran up the debts during the real estate crash. The property was auctioned in 2011 to satisfy Kodsi’s creditors—PNC and BB&T. At that point, the creditors should have gone to court to recognize a deficiency, assuming the sale did not fully satisfy the debt, said Amy Kodsi’s attorneys, Howard DuBosar and Robert Sheres of DuBosar Navon in Boca Raton.
