Attorney Joseph David Perkins has withdrawn from a three-way judicial race for an open Miami-Dade circuit seat.

Perkins in an email Monday to the Daily Business Review said he withdrew from the Group 27 race because of “health issues in my family.” He did not return a call for comment by deadline.

Perkins is a complex commercial litigator with Garbett, Stiphany, Allen & Roza in Miami.

His withdrawal leaves two candidates vying for the seat: Miami family law practitioner Mary Gomez and Coral Gables litigator Alberto Milian.

Milian is the son of Cuban exile Emilio Milian, who lost both legs in a car bomb in 1976. His son, Alberto, unsuccessfully ran for Miami-Dade state attorney in 2000 and 2004.
