Jones Day’s fledgling Miami office has snagged a top litigator from Weil, Gotshal & Manges and plans three more hires in the coming weeks.
After a decade at Weil’s Miami office, complex commercial litigation partner Christopher Pace joined Jones Day in Miami as a partner Monday.
“I maintain a national litigation practice, and I’m admitted to two different bars, and Jones Day has an integrated national litigation practice,” said Pace, a former federal prosecutor. “They have offices in Southern California, and I have a number of cases there.”
He clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy and Judge Alex Kozinski of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
With the additions, Jones Day, which opened in Miami a year ago, will have 16 attorneys.
“We were looking for someone with Chris’ skill set, a renowned litigator who had experience in white collar, class action and health care cases,” said office managing partner Pedro Jimenez. “Chris was someone who was known to us, and we were very fortunate to get him.”
Jimenez declined to identify the other new hires, which will include a partner and two associates.
