Concepcion Martinez & Bellido has changed its name to Concepcion Martinez & Puente after the departure of Nelson Bellido and the promotion of Ricardo Puente to partner.
The 13-lawyer Miami firm specializes in international business disputes and commercial business transactions.
Bellido, who recently lost his race to become president of the Cuban American Bar Association, left to join Roig, Tutan, Rosenberg, Martin, & Stoller’s Miami office.
“Nelson has increasingly focused on insurance defense, and that is not our specialty,” said Carlos Concepcion, managing partner of Concepcion Martinez & Puente. “This is an amicable parting. We’re still friends.”
Bellido, who previously worked at Shook, Hardy & Bacon, Fowler White Burnett and Hinshaw & Culbertson and chairs the Miami-Dade County Ethics Commission, could not be reached for comment by deadline.
Puente has been with the Concepcion firm for six years and represents individuals, high net-worth families, financial and corporate entities in litigation.
