Broward County Court Judge Ian Richards may be best known for taking a flying leap.
Barely three months after Richards took the bench, a man accused of violating a restraining order lunged at his former girlfriend in court and started punching her in the head. Richards reacted. He vaulted over the bench and tackled the man, then helped subdue him until a bailiff and police took over.
