The Daily Business Review presented two lifetime achievement awards as part of its annual Litigation Department of the Year recognition program.

Parker Thomson of Hogan Lovells was recognized as an elder statesman of the Florida Bar for decades of public service on cases ranging from state water rights to the constitutional and budget limits of public defender workloads.

The late Thomas Tew of Tew Cardenas was honored posthumously as a legendary business litigator who had the ability to make complex receiverships, banking consolidations and bankruptcies seem simple.

Six South Florida law firms also received awards for litigation achievements of the past year.

Akerman for its work as a large firm, White & Case as a midsize firm and Podhurst Orseck as a small firm.

Firms recognized for their work in specific practice areas are Akerman for intellectual property, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney for real estate, Colodny, Fass, Talenfeld, Karlinsky, Abate & Webb for insurance and Morgan Lewis & Bockius for labor and employment.
