Robin Rosenberg (Melanie Bell)
President Barack Obama on Thursday nominated Palm Beach Circuit Judge Robin L. Rosenberg to serve on the federal bench in Fort Pierce.
Her nomination replaces one for Miami-Dade Circuit Judge William Thomas, an openly gay black judge who was torpedoed by U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.
Rosenberg was one of three finalists along with Thomas and Miami-Dade Circuit Judge John Thornton for the seat that opened in 2012 when U.S. District Judge Adalberto Jordan in Miami was elevated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Rosenberg is the spouse of former Palm Beach State Attorney Michael McAuliffe.
Rosenberg, a judge since 2007, previously served as a partner at Holland & Knight, general counsel at Slim Fast Corp. and an assistant city attorney in West Palm Beach. She worked for the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Juvenile Justice and U.S. Sen. Bill Bradley.
“I am pleased to nominate this distinguished individual to serve on the United States District Court bench,” said Obama said in a statement. “Judge Rosenberg has a long and impressive record of service, and I am confident she will serve on the federal bench with distinction.”
