An engineering review found problems with supporting columns in the basement of the historic 85-year-old Dade County Courthouse, and more tests have been ordered at the downtown Miami landmark.

But court officials said Monday that there are no safety or occupancy issues to interrupt services or require hearings to move elsewhere. A county structural engineering report recommended further in-depth testing of the basement columns.

The discovery was made in the midst of a $30 million renovation project, which has left much of the building surrounded by a construction fence for years. Renovation work covers the neoclassical building’s roofs, plaza and façade.

The courthouse at 73 W. Flagler St., which opened in 1928, will maintain a normal schedule.
