720 E. Cypress Creek Road, Fort Lauderdale (Hampton Inn) (Melanie Bell)
A $14 million Hampton Inn & Suites hotel is set to open in Coconut Creek by May.
Morlin Hospitality Management LLC will operate the 105-room hotel at 5740 N. State Road 7 on the northeast corner of the Sawgrass Expressway and U.S. 441.
The hotel is in the final stages of construction, with the upper floors and exterior complete. Painting is under way, and work ongoing on the pool.
The property will offer a 1,000 square-foot putting green, five Jacuzzi suites, kiosks with computer access on every floor, a heated pool, outdoor spa, three meeting rooms, gym and guest laundry room.
The six-story, 70,303 square-foot building sits on a two-acre site that belonged to Technological University of America Inc. until last year.
The property changed hands in May 2012 in a $2.012 million deal with Coconut Creeks Hotel LLP, a general partnership between Coconut Creek Hospitality Group Inc. and Bluewater Builders Inc. Miami-based Morlin Hospitality is managed by Seth H. Fellman, director of development and acquisitions at the Morlin Group commercial real estate firm.
Hampton Inn & Suites is part of Hilton Worldwide, serving the brand’s mid-priced hotel segment. The new hotel is one of more than 1,900 Hampton properties in 14 countries. It will likely hire 20 to 25 employees, general manager Alexander Passacantando said.
The new hotel is about three miles from Butterfly World in Tradewinds Park and near the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and other attractions.
The company has established relationships with several surrounding businesses, and Passacantando said it’s considering a shuttle to Butterfly World, the largest attraction of its kind in the United States.
