Five Miami-Dade circuit judges are among 12 lawyers vying for an open seat on the Third District Court of Appeal.
The position opened in May when Judge Angel Cortinas resigned to join the Gunster law firm in Miami.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judges Jorge E. Cueto, Bronwyn Miller, Jose M. Rodriguez, Norma S. Lindsey hail from the civil division, Fleur J. Lobree is serving in the criminal division.
The other applicants are Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jonathan D. Colan and Eduardo I. Sanchez; Candace Renee Duff, a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig in Miami; Sergio Garcia-Pages from the chief counsel's office of the Internal Revenue Service in Miami; John A. Greco from the Miami city attorney's office; Edward G. Guedes, a partner at Weiss Serota Helfman Pastoriza Cole & Boniski in Coral Gables; and Edwin A. Scales, III, a Key West attorney.
