Now that the passengers of the Carnival Triumph have touched land, the legal and public relations sagas ensue. Carnival’s president and CEO, Gerry Cahill, has stated, "All guests on the current Carnival Triumph voyage will receive a full refund for the cruise, along with transportation expenses. In addition, they will receive a future credit equal to the amount paid for this voyage, as well as reimbursement of all shipboard purchases during the voyage, with the exception of gift shop and casino charges." Plus a $500 check. And Carnival reserved 1,500 hotel rooms in New Orleans for the formerly stranded passengers.

But this offer is not enough for many of the passengers, and the legal landscape ahead will be tumultuous and hotly contested.
