A state appeals court sided with Miami Heat star Chris Bosh today in a custody dispute with his 3-year-old daughter’s mother.
The Fifth District Court of Appeal ruled Orange Circuit Judge Robert M. Evans overstepped his authority by making rulings at a status hearing on issues that weren’t before him, including his order requiring the parents to dismiss custody actions in Maryland.
The couple also litigated child support in Texas. The unsigned three-paragraph order requires Evans to give Bosh a chance to present evidence that Texas has jurisdiction over child-support issues.
Attorneys on the appeal include former Florida Bar president Mayanne Downs of GrayRobinson in Orlando, Thomas A. Zehnder of King, Blackwell & Zehnder in Orlando and C. Anthony Mulrain of Gordon & Rees in Atlanta.
Jane E. Carey of Jane E. Carey P.A. in Orlando represents the mother, Allison Mathis.
