Special SectionsIn addition to legislation approved in 2023, this past legislative session the state legislature passed House Bill 1021 (HB 1021) which includes several new measures to enhance the safety and structural integrity of condominium buildings. The bill, which was signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis on June 14, 2024, and became effective July 1, 2024, amends various provisions of the Florida Condominium Act, including changes to how condominiums are managed, inspected, and maintained. It also makes changes relating to condominium association official records and enacts new criminal penalties relating to condominium associations in Florida. The major amendments to Florida's Condominium Act directly affect the responsibilities of condominium associations and the rights of condominium unit owners.
