After a federal district court judge in Miami denied a motion by a city commissioner for a new trial, the lead attorney for the business owners allegedly targeted by the public official is setting his sights Thursday on continued collection efforts and upcoming litigation against the City of Miami over its alleged complicity in the matter.

Jeff Gutchess, a founding partner of AXS Law Group with offices in Wynwood, Florida, and Los Angeles, California, said one of the challenges in representing the plaintiffs, William Fuller and Martin Pinilla, in the $63.5 million verdict against the defendant, Joe Carollo, the city commissioner, was the limitless legal fees by his opponents supported by taxpayers.
