A federal district court judge in Miami entered a seven-figure precedent-setting final judgment in a case over the bankruptcy of a nutraceutical packaging company, and the deceptive trademark actions that followed from an ex-distributor and a founder of the business.

J. Luis Quintana and Kirk Villalon, partners at Quintana Portal Villalon, and William Trueba Jr., a partner at Avila Law, represented the plaintiff, Nutradose Labs LLC, whose product the defendants, Bio Dose Pharma LLC and Raimundo Santamarta, resold. Later, the defendants sought to compete with the buyer in the bankruptcy sale “by marketing an ostensibly new product,” according to the ruling.
