On appeal from the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit has ruled on the question of how far an injunction against a private corporation can reach, holding that it cannot extend to a person who did not aid an enjoined party in the original lawsuit.
Judge Robin S. Rosenbaum wrote the opinion for the circuit’s three-judge panel, which included Judges Kevin Newsom and Adalberto Jordan. The panel held that defendant Diana Robinson could not be convicted of contempt of an injunction for Phazzer Electronics’ alleged encroachment on TASER International’s intellectual property.
