Gunster is fighting back by appealing a Miami-Dade Circuit Court ruling that prevents it from representing its Big Law client, Akerman, and an attorney in malpractice litigation.

Angel A. Cortinas, a shareholder at Gunster in Miami, argued that Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Migna Sanchez-Llorens should enter a temporary stay so Akerman and its attorney, Robert W. Claeson, of counsel in its New York office, can continue to have their preferred counsel while the case goes before Florida’s Third District Court of Appeal.
