Julia Wyda is a partner at Brinkley Morgan in Fort Lauderdale.

What is the one word people use to describe you?

Unstoppable.

What is your favorite thing about being in the legal profession?

Working with like-minded attorneys who try to advance our profession, serve our local and state bars, and give back to our communities.

What would you like to abolish or stop doing in the legal profession?

Unprofessional conduct and incivility, which hurts clients and taints our profession.

What is your No. 1 survival tip in a work crisis?

Breathe. Everything is manageable if we take it one step at a time. Even the most daunting crisis becomes manageable when we break it down into actionable steps.

What do you think you are better at than some?

Not taking no for an answer. I just refuse to give up.

What has been the most significant change in the legal profession in the past 10 years?

Diversity. Minorities and women are finding their voice and advocating for equality in the legal profession. We are starting to see more minority and female partners and more minority and female attorneys are striving for and achieving board certification. The legal profession has benefited and will continue to benefit from increased diversity as we approach our work from different angles and with greater perspective and can better relate to the communities we are serving.

What advice do you have for aspiring legal professionals?

Work hard and volunteer for your local and state bar as early as you can. The relationships, friendships, mentorships and opportunities from bar service are invaluable.

Knowing what you know now, what would you tell your young self when you were graduating?

Enjoy the ride.

What are you most proud of achieving in your career?

Board certification and serving as president of the Palm Beach County Bar Association.

What’s your idea of an idyllic retirement, and are you going to pursue it?

I hope my retirement involves a lot of travel and delicious food, but I also hope it still involves serving our profession in some capacity and helping my fellow female attorneys continue to make great strides in our profession.
