The first in-person trial in Miami-Dade Circuit’s business court has resulted in a $25.6 million verdict for a Miami company that alleged its non-owner manager liquidated millions of dollars of residential real estate assets while its owner was in jail.
It was a case that relied on demonstrating criminal intent by clear and convincing evidence to establish a claim of civil theft, which led the presiding judge to award treble damages.
