A Florida Supreme Court opinion in a marital case is causing some lawyers to worry that the decision will spark a rise in frivolous litigation.
Attorneys — including Javier A. Lopez, a fee expert and managing partner at Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton in Miami, who is not involved in the case — are warning civil litigators they need to immediately amend their contracts, or state court judges might reject their next attorney fees requests.
