One law firm is part of a new partnership to help address the rural healthcare crisis in the Southeast and across the nation.

Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough, a Columbia, South Carolina-based firm, on Sept. 8 launched the Rural Healthcare Initiative, a collaboration between it and three other businesses with experience in the health care industry: Ascendient Healthcare Advisors, a Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based health care consulting, strategy, planning and feasibility firm; Criterion Healthcare, a Charlotte-based facility development and financial consulting firm; and Health Management Services, a Richmond-based physician practice and network management services company.
