After realizing it was going to be impossible for all of the jurors, defendants and their legal counsel to safely have their proceedings at the Miami-Dade County Courthouse for a multi-party jury trial due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one judge ditched the courtroom for an alternative venue: the James L. Knight Convention Center.

And though the case ultimately settled before the trial went ahead, it could serve as a blueprint for freeing up courtroom space that would otherwise be occupied by large, complex cases for long periods of time.
