Magic Burgers LLC, which operates the Burger King fast-food chain, was ordered to pay more than $2 million to a woman who claimed that she was fired because her trachea tube offended a supervisor.

On Aug. 23, 2017, plaintiff Ashley Merard, 18, a part-time cashier, was terminated by her employer, a fast-food restaurant that was located at 8913 W. Colonial Drive, in Ocoee. During the prior year, Merard suffered an injury that necessitated permanent implantation of a trachea tube, which was capped but visible. Merard claimed that she was terminated because a regional district manager disliked the tube’s appearance.
