More than two decades ago, while practicing law in Jacksonville, Robert Lasky got a call from a University of Miami School of Law friend Gene Kissane. Alongside his partner, Richard Cole, Kissane was starting a law firm. If Lasky wanted to go to Miami, he’d be the firm’s first hire.

A lot happened in the intervening 23 years. Today, Cole, Scott & Kissane employs more Florida lawyers than any firm, with $170 million in gross revenue last year and its three equity partners splitting a net income of $11 million.
