The operator of the Rooms To Go retail chain — Seffner-based R.T.G. Furniture Corp. — agreed to pay $325,000 to a customer who claimed that she was injured when one of its dining-room chairs collapsed.

On Jan. 22, 2013, plaintiff Valerie Higgins, 47, a nursing assistant, fell while she was attempting to sit on a newly-purchased wooden chair. The incident occurred in the dining room of her residence, which was located in Miramar. Higgins claimed that her back and her right knee remain painful.
