As President Donald Trump prepares to announce his third U.S. Supreme Court nominee Saturday, Judges Amy Coney Barrett and Barbara Lagoa are repeatedly named as being under serious consideration for the seat.

Barrett, 48, confirmed by the Senate to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in 2017, has long been rumored to be Trump’s pick to sit on the court if Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat opened up. She was previously a front-runner for the seat taken by Justice Brett Kavanaugh, meaning officials are already familiar with her background and credentials.
