As the coronavirus ravages our country, lawyers, judges and most importantly victims and their families will be testing the limits of personal injury law in an effort to hold liable businesses whose customers they believe caused or contributed to the illness. Cruise lines are notorious for being floating petri dishes for viruses, like the norovirus that can spread like wildfire impacting both passengers and crew.

Princess Cruise Lines, a subsidiary of Carnival, was one of the first cruise lines to garner worldwide attention regarding its handling of the coronavirus after a number of passengers aboard the Grand Princess tested positive. Last week, a federal court in California was the first to quickly decide and quickly dismiss a lawsuit filed by Princess passengers, Ronald and Eva Weissberger, who sued the cruise line for allegedly failing to take the necessary precautions to keep its passengers, crew and the public safe.
